Fownes Brewing Co. have scooped up yet another award, this time claiming RateBeer’s Best Brewpub in the West Midlands. The brewery was set up by two brothers, James and Tom, who on one drunken night casually decided to set up a brewery, despite knowing nothing about brewing… And it certainly seems to have worked out for them!
The lads have been brewing at the back of the Jolly Crispin pub in Dudley, West Midlands. A proper traditional pub that has been serving ale since the 1840’s, frequently featured in CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide! And Fownes take centre stage on the bar, with their fantastic cask ales; including our fav the Elephant Riders, a juicy pale ale, bursting with tropical flavours, which are met by a fantastic dry, well-balanced finish.
To celebrate their latest success, Fownes are giving away their new iconic Ramones-inspired t-shirts to anyone who drinks 10 pints of Fownes beer at the Jolly Crispin between the 1st and 23rd of March. Collectors cards can be found behind the bar in the pub.
To top it off, Fownes will be holding a presentation event on the 23rd March at the Jolly Crispin, between midday and 10pm. Pint number 10 needs to be purchased on Saturday 23rd March, at which point it can be redeemed at the brewery for your new favourite t-shirt.
