Brewery in South Wales Launch Urgent Crowdfunding Campaign After Flood Devastation

A brewery in South Wales has launched a desperate campaign to get them up and running after being devastated by unprecedented flooding. Bragdy Twt Lol, also known as The Trefforest Brewery was one of the many homes and businesses to be hit by flooding which was delivered by the river Taf on the morning of Sunday the 16th of February 2020. Owner and Head Brewer Phil Thomas said. “It is with sadness I am forced to suspend the brewing of new stock for the foreseeable future as it could well take weeks to clean, repair and replace all the equipment and stock in the brewery. I’m hopeful insurance will go a long way to support me, but it will take time and undoubtedly it won’t cover everything.”Bragdy Twt Lol Crowdfun after flood devastation damageThe brewery that launched in 2015 was hoping for big new developments this year, but this has now been scuppered estimating over £10,000 worth of damage. Phil had listed his estimate for the damage:

  • Hops worth over £2,000, soiled.
  • A full pallet of malt £800 and yeast £200.
  • About £500 of various pump clips and beer boxes £500.
  • Bottles of beer smashed and soiled - £2,000.
  • Four pumps worth around £300 each were totally submerged. £1,200
  • Printer, digibox to screen the rugby, various electrical equipment at least £500.
  • Reference materials, books, stationery, store of beer mats, furniture £1,000.
  • Plumbing, electrics, heating, 3 brewery chillers, fridge, who knows - £1,000 - £3,000.
