S43 Brewery "The One We Can't Talk About"

Award-winning, Durham based brewery, S43 have had to mix things up a bit recently after a confectionery giant began legal proceedings in response to one of their beers. They'd created an epic Imperial Chocolate Fudge Stout using a combination of flavours and ingredients found in a legendary peanut chocolate bar. Inspired by the popular brand's latest run of adverts, they’d named the brew “You’re Not You When You’re Thirsty”. The result? It sold out within 48 hours, receiving widespread praise from industry big names. Unfortunately, the brewery, who aren’t in a position to take legal action, have been forced to take down the imagery and any reference to the drink on their website and social media, due to the legal bout. Picture from the Beer Yeti review of S43 The one we can't talk about chocolate beerAlthough slightly disappointing S43 can understand the decision, with Marketing Manager, Alex Clark saying, “We of course completely respect the effort and time [they have] put into building their brand. The creation of this brew was simply to pay homage to one of the brewery’s favourite snacks, using flavours synonymous with the bar.”However to ensure their fastest ever selling product isn’t forgotten in a hurry, they've re-released it as "The One We Can't Talk About" with new can design and a slight tweak to the original recipe. This latest impy stout from S43 is brewed with Challenger hops, Pale, Munich, Biscuit, Crystal, Oats, Chocolate malts, Lactose, Cocoa Nibs and Nuts. This list of ingredients and description sounded simply divine and we just had to get our mitts on a can!Picture from the Beer Yeti review of S43 The one we can't talk about chocolate beerCracking this bad boy open, it pours out of the can thick and smoothly, with a dense brown head. Slightly biscuity aromas, with a cracking mix of rich chocolate, coffee and vanilla, with a slight boozy underlay. Silky smooth mouthfeel, with flavours bursting with peanut, chocolate and a slight boozy burn in the finish…. Mmm! Verdict - rich but not too overpowering and dare I say it, at 9% dangerously easy to drink! So if you can still get hold of this fantastic brew, it’s definitely worth a try, you won’t regret it!
