So what about the new Cadbury’s Creme Egg x Goose Island Collab?

Okay, so this beer brewed to celebrate Cadbury's Creme Eggs’ 50th Birthday, this collab with Goose Island was getting some SERIOUS hype!!! It sold out in three minutes, but there was no doubt that the vast majority of the UK wanted to get hold of this beer that represents what to many of us is Easter! 🤣 Living in Brum and even at one point in my past 12 year tenure at this fantastic city only a 2 minute walk from the famous Cadbury's factory... I NEEDED THIS! Cycling down the Birmingham Worcestershire Canal, I could always smell the beautiful scent of chocolate in the air, which has been dubbed by local Strava riders as the "Dairy Milk Aroma" segment! Ironically the factory is set in beside the famous "Stirchley Beer Mile" in Birmingham. Being relatively local, I had to get our greasy mitts on this… AND I DID! So what was it really like… a chocolate stout, a liquid Cadbury Creme Egg or something else!? I cracked one open, alongside a Creme Egg of course!..

The presentation, as always from Goose Island was pretty spot on… A wooden box with straw and separate compartments. An engraved commemorative glass, with two cans,  some scattered Cadbury's Creme Eggs and some chalk!? (Probably missed the memo)!

It pours deep dark black, with a beige head that reduces. Aroma: pretty sweet chocolate and vanilla. This is all carried through into the flavour and met with a slight bitterness. For us, in all honesty, it was a touch too thin on the body but fizzles on the tongue.

Verdict: Okay, so maybe there was a bit too much hype over this. It's good, but it could have been slightly thicker on the mouthfeel… we were expecting perhaps more silky smoothness, with perhaps a bit more chocolate and vanilla. But there was something slightly satisfying pairing (or chomping down perhaps in our case) a Cadbury's Creme Egg, while washing it down with this brew! I’m hoping that there will be another collab for this beer next year… but maybe in the form of an impy perhaps??? 😏
